Super Bowl - Super Fun - Super Sick

The first part of our week was wonderful but the past few days Jared and I have been sick. On Tuesday the school nurse called to tell me Jared had pink eye and on Wednesday morning about 4:30 I woke up with kidney stones. Not fun. I am so thankful Jeff offered to take the day off to take care of us and to get Caden to and from school.

Yesterday we were feeling better but I was not really ready to drive yet but I had to get the kids to school. I was excited to finally drive my car again! Yay! But unfortunately on our way to school...

Yep! A truck about 50 yards in front of us just about gave us a heart attack. Whatever this was, a stone or a rock came out of no where and almost went through the windshield.

Whatever Satan throws at us we will continue to trust in the Lord and continue to look up.

About 10 minutes later our sweet neighbor called and asked if she could take and pick up Grace from MDO for me. Thank you so much, Carrie!

Monday though was a fun day! We had a good time at a friends Valentine party.

Red Light Violation

While driving, have you ever had one of those experience when the light changes and you have 1.00 seconds to respond, by either, go and go quickly, or slam on the brakes, and, hope you don't end up stopped in the intersection?

Well, I had just that experience about two weeks ago.

I received this in the mail yesterday. I have now learned my lesson, I need to drive at least the speed limit or a bit over. And, to slam on my brakes. This light was red 0.25 seconds, at the white line, and yes, I now have a ticket to pay. Lesson. Learned.

My goodness, Jeff & I have been law breakers lately. I thought our parents raised us better than this! LOL! Jeff got his first EVER speeding ticket at the age of 37 ,and, also the day after we went to court after abusing our children by not allowing them to attend school for 3 days. We are awful citizens of this community.

In all honesty, I guess I should have tried to stop.

And to the L.P.D., please enforce this at the intersection of 4th street and the Loop!! Every time I'm sitting at that intersection vehichles are constantly running that light.

I can not believe it's Jan 31st. !! This month has flown by! This post is really just of some random photos I took through the month of January.

Grace is super excited about her new bicycle helmet. For several days she wore it almost non stop. Yes. Even in the car on the way to and from dropping off and picking up the boys from school. Jared just ignores it. But, oh my goodness this bugs Caden to no end. I try and tell him just ignore it but he just can't seem to let it go. He tells her she looks ridiculous. But she doesn't care, not one bit. She looks and feels beautiful! :)

Sunday afternoon I walked outside to watch the kids play, they always get along so well playing on the trampoline, and wow was all that I could say. Caden's is not to awful bad, just a little stickin up in the back:) But my goodness,

these two had it up on end. Jared touched me thinking he would be funny to shock me, well we both almost cried when he did. OUCH! My word he had lots of volts shooting through him. OUCH!!

Crazy January Weather

The weather here lately has been a little crazy. Last year at this time we had already had snow on the ground. Earlier this week, we had our A/C running!! Hmmm... I'm really hoping this is not a sigh of the summer yet to come : /

But I hate to complain because we sure have enjoyed these bast few weeks outside

Yesterday Grace and I were sitting out on the front porch watching the storm move in. It has been raining for the last 24 hours! Yay! I hope that the ponds are full before the day is over. Thank you Good Lord for this awesome rain.

We are driving Nana & Papaw's car for a few days until we get our car running. Silly thing wont start :/ So since were not insured while driving Nana's car we did have to wait for the storm to slow a little before heading out to have lunch with them today! ;)

Long Lost Photos

Most of you may not be aware, that I love to take photos of just about everything. ;) I love looking at photos, and it also helps me remember what life was like and just how small the kids were back when....when, I thought they were so big.

Well, in 2009 a few days after Christmas our computer picture program crashed. I was SO upset. I started blogging in Oct. 2009 so the only Christmas pictures I blogged that year is all that I have. Since then I have not deleted one photo off of my memory card even after uploading them to the computer. I replace the photo cards when they are full and they take up less room than a CD.

The other day I was looking through my computer files and I was SO excited when I found a few that I thought I had lost forever.

This is the only photo that was saved from their birthday party two and a half years ago.

A Big Day For Us

Today Grace had her first dentist appointment.

She was such a big girl, and did a good job the entire time we were there!

She is already asking to go back!

After her dental cleaning we went to visit Ms. Hannah's resting place. Grace released a pink balloon in honor of her 11th Heavenly Birthday. We were truly blessed by our visit today! I'm so amazed at how God works! We love you sweet girl!

Cherishing Every Moment

I am trying to enjoy every moment with Grace. I am going to miss her so much when she starts school next year. I just realized something...I can't say "next year" anymore :( ...it's only 6 months away!! Jeff is already teasing me saying he is going to have to take a week of vacation to be home with me the first week of school. He is probably right. I am going to need to get a job or better yet volunteer all my time at the school.

Since Caden had a basketball game on Monday night we had a "free" night tonight. Yay! Today the weather was beautiful so this evening we were able to stay home and just enjoy playing outside.

This is how I found "Pink Puppy" yesterday. On the kitchen floor with a clip in her hair. I said, did you put that clip in Pink Puppy's hair? "Yeah, it's to keep her hair out of her eyes." Too cute.

Grace loves to help cook and when she asked if she could fix herself a tortilla for a snack I thought nothing of it. I handed her the butter and walked out of the room. When I walked back in about a minute later...

this is what she had fixed for herself. No. She did not eat this. Needless to say we had plenty of tortillas for the boys to enjoy for an after school snack. ;)

Tonight just before bed, I hear her holler out "WHO LEFT THE WATER ON THE BATHROOM FLOOR?.. WHO'S SHOES ARE IN HERE".... Jared interupts... "GRACE I'm getting it!!!!" Jeff and I tried not to laugh. Oh my goodness she sounds like me. : / A few minutes later...

Grace walks in, "Jared said my hair is ugly." Jared knows how to get to her I tell ya. Just tell her she is ugly. Oh my. What. A. Pair.

I am trying to cherish every moment, the good and the bad, with the all three kids. They are growing up too fast, it feels like I have said this a lot lately.

Me acting silly, I actually got a real smile out of his boy!

He was feeling just a little off that day. ;) Yay me! I have a Pre Teen!

But I sure do love these boys!!

Hoosiers

Caden played his first basketball game this morning, and his team's name is the Hoosiers. ;)

It doesn't matter what sport he is playing, they (the coaches) always pair him up with the "bigger boys". My guess it is because he is so aggressive/competitive. Good news about this photo!..he did get a good pass on the ball.

He almost made this shot!! The ball bounced off the rim! It was so exciting to watch him play! Oh and he will match his team mates in Monday nights game. :) After going to three stores.. we FINALLY found him white shorts today!

Christmas Vacation

I am going to miss my hubby and our boy's not being at home tomorrow. We have had a lot of fun together these last two weeks. It has been busy yet relaxing...if that makes any since.

The past couple of days have consisted of taking Christmas lights off of the house and enjoying watching movies together. Also....

Watching our big girl ride her first bicycle. Thank you, Nana & Papaw!

This was her first ride around the neighborhood and she did very well.

All we need to work on at the moment is looking forward. Ha! She is constantly looking out for cars. I guess that's a good thing... Right?

December was a busy month but lots of fun!

This week we celebrated Christmas with my family!

All the silly cousions but the two oldest girls.

Baylee, Grace and Caitlin just came back from a Rhino ride.

The cousin's take turns reading The Birth of Jesus every Christmas. This Christmas was Caden's turn and he did a wonderful job!

My mom made all the grandchildren quilts this year..amazing that she was able to complete this with her shoulder surgery she had in September.

Every year we head to Santa Land the week after Christmas.

And every year we enjoy it as if it was our first time there! On our way home Grace said, " Wow those lights were sooo beautiful! Thank you Daddy, for taking us to see all the beautiful lights"!

Christmas Day

Christmas morning and all three were very excited! Jared told us that he was too excited to sleep and that he woke up at 4am and 5am and again at 6. He finally knocked on our bedroom door at 6:45 asking when we would open presents. We asked if Grace was up yet and he sadly said "No" because he knows we have to wait for everyone to wake before presents. He said, why is she still sleeping? She is always up early and way before me! I told him sweetheart it's not even 7 o'clock yet, she normally wakes up between 7:30 and 8:30. That didn't make him feel any better. Don't worry, he didn't have to wait long, we did go head and wake her about 7:15;)

Oh my, she is only 4 years old and she LOVES clothes!! Especially dresses!

And this little toy took over an hour to put together on Christmas eve. I was seriously thinking twice about this purchase.

But it is an absolute hit with all three kids!!! I have to admit it is very cool. And, it will never be taken apart if they want to continue to play with it. Well, I guess the boys could but it together by themselves! Ha!!

We didn't have extended family plans on Christmas morning so we were able to make it to church. I took this with my phone just before Christmas Sunday service and I love it!

Also on Christmas day us along with The Roedel family were so blessed with the opportunity to serve others and give of our selves, by handing out Christmas cookies and cards to the residents of a local nursing home.

This was a good way to give the kids perspective in life. I'm not sure who was blessed more, us or them.

It may not be on Christmas day, but this is something we will continue to do every year.

It amazes me how much the cousins change from one year to the next. This year someone said, Josh isn't quite so tall anymore compared to everyone else." I was funny, but kinda sad too. They are all growing up so fast.

Apparentely, he was in a good mood when we went for a golf cart ride/looking around his parents property. Lol! You. Are. A. Nut.

A Happy Birthday!

Well, I am one year older and I am blessed beyond measure!

Last year on my birthday things were very different. Jeff and I were dealing with a miscarriage and I can not tell you how often I think about that precious little one. This weekend was very busy and I think God planned it that way for a reason. I had no time to think and ponder about what I was going through last year on my birthday.

On Saturday after play practice and birthday parties Jeff got home from work shortly after we did and he handed me this little gift box

and he said I love you, Happy Birthday.

The loss of the baby and the amazing stress of his new job along with my health, this has been the hardest year on our marriage. Satan has tried his darndest but we've got news for him. Jesus Christ. He said when he bought the ring he wasn't thinking about what we were going through last year, "the Lord must have been thinking for me. I just knew this is what I wanted to give you on your birthday." The Lord has truly blessed me with an amazing husband and I am so thankful for him.

And what could be a better way to spend my birthday than to enjoy these cute little preschoolers

He needed to look older playing the roll of Dad. He wasn't thrilled but was okay with it..he did wash the mustache off and tried to "mess up" his hair as soon as he got the chance;) You noticed I said tried, his hair has gotten so long I put enought gel and hair spray in that boys hair to last him a week I'm sure.

Forever Our Baby Boy

It has felt like I have blinked and he went from this...

This was Papaw's coat when he was a kid. I also remember Jeff wearing it when we were dating! I can not believe my son is big enough to be wearing his Papaw's coat! And we can't believe he has grown another 3 inches since June!

This week I was in Burlington Coat Factory looking for Jared a coat. I started off in the older kid section, and after almost an hour of looking through the coats I finally found one that would fit him in this section...

Some times I wish that I could stop and rewind life some times. It's just going by so fast.

With much persistance by my Dad, I am updating my blog :) He informed me that I'm not updating often enough on what we have been up to.

So here goes...lol

About a week ago we received this in the mail.

Happy. I. Was. Not. Homeschooling just may be in our future:) The boys have only missed four days of school this year and we get sent to court. Ridiculous.

I am so thankful that the Judge did understand why we took the Arkansas trip, that family is important, and he did not fine us the $250.00 plus court fees! Praise Jesus!!

Along with that this week we have had..

a sick little girl all week.

We have had lots of snuggle time but we are ready to get back to normal, enough with the 101 fever. She is ready to go back to Church and to Mothers Day Out to play with her friends!-(her words)

Learning To Put Others First

Last week The Boy Scouts asked Jared and a few of his friends to go shopping for the troop for their survival camp out. The boy's had to do the shopping (only with very little help from parents) and stay with in the budget.

They did a great job, and it only took us an hour and 15 minutes! Not bad with six kids and three adults!

Last week the kids also got to experience the gift of giving! This was their first year to pick out gifts for children less fortunate through Operation Christmas Child. When we were shopping Grace kept referring to the little girl we were shopping for as, "My Girl". "My girl will love this, can we buy this for my girl?" We bought for a 10-14 year old boy and a 2-4 year old girl.

What a blessing! The kids loved this. They put so much thought into what should go into the boxes. This is now a new family tradition!

Last week we had so much fun. We took the boys out of school and went to Hot Springs for a little family vacation.

Stress & Success

A friend sent this to me and it made me laugh! This is how Jeff and I feel in our lives right now.

His job has been so stressful on our family. It has left us wondering if he will be let go, but mostly it has left us wondering if this was what the Lord wanted for our family and if he should look for another job. The Lord is faithful and He answers this every time we wonder.With my health problems, I am learninng how to let things "roll" off of me, as my Mom would say. This has been difficult for me but I am getting there. Trinity is not worth my marriage or my life. We are learning to be more patient and understanding of others, Trinity is just trying to do it's best to fix the million dollar mess up, and yes it's causing my husdand to work 6 twelve hour days, sorry.. nights until Jan. I just keep telling myself, "January...not too much longer".

We have been blessed through all of this though, Jeff has 3 weeks of vacation and 60 sick days. And he is taking all three weeks of vac. before December 31st. God is good! We will be able to have Christmas with our famiilies! The Lord knew we needed to save up during the year.

Speaking of vacation, we are headed to Arkansas this week!! This is the first time we have pulled the kids out of school during the week to go on vacation. We are soooo excited! Don't worry, we called the school to get their work for next week. ;) When Jared was telling one of his teachers he wouldn't be at school, she asked if everything okay. He said, yes we haven't had a lot of time with my Dad so we are going camping in Arkansas to spend time together! She thought that was a good idea! Personally, we don't really care what the school thinks, they are my children. Lol! But, I thought that was really sweet!!

Thank you so much for the phone calls; texts and emails over the past few days. Your prayer and encouragement mean so much to Jeff and I. I am feeling a lot better. I did something yesterday that I haven't done in months, I was able to spend a few hours in town with out feeling exhausted or just staying home. Baby steps. Right?

We will go back to the Dr on Monday, I say "we" because Jeff has a few questions for my doctor. "Help me, My wife is going crazy!" Ha!! Just kidding!..well, kinda. ;)

'Poor Old Truck'

I can not believe Jeff was welding for 10 years!..

And, he has had this old work truck for 8! This was the day he drove it home. Look how little Caden was!..sweet little boy, he has always been Daddy's little helper. Wow.. where does the time go?!

Well, the day has come. No. We have not gotten another truck, just yet. That will come soon! We are saying good bye to an era of our lives, a time of our lives that is a little sad to leave, but also a time to celebrate.

No more side work!! Wooohooo! Actually, we have been very blessed, he has not had to do side work for a couple of years now but we are finally making it official by taking all of his machinery out of his truck. Call us lazy, I guess. ;)

We are not going to get rid of the 'poor old truck', were going to give it a little TLC, were going to paint it black, put new tires on it, and Jeff has mentioned a lift kit, (Lord help me) and give it to Jared when he starts to drive. Wow. That will be here before we know it. :(

I am so proud of you Jeff and all your had work over the years and proud that you can retire this part of your life! I love you!!

I Will Blog To Remember...

I have felt pretty good over the past couple of days, and yesterday I was feeling like my old self again. I had truly forgotten how it felt to feel good. Crazy, I know. My blood pressure going up has just been a slow process over the past 6 months that I really didn't know how bad I felt until yesterday, when I felt so wonderful! So good, I thought, I would go without taking my meds. and try to keep my blood pressure down on my own. I should've known better, right?! I woke up this morning feeling dizzy even before I got out of bed. My blood pressure was 160 over 101. Oh my goodness. I will NEVER skip a day of my blood pressure medicine again.

“Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16 -18

Grace is SO into drawing right now and the other day she drew her self portrait. Silly girl!

I know all children have different things they excel at early. She did not get her artistic ability from me. She may not be the smartest kid in her class (or maybe she will) - but she is so musical and artistic and I love that about her.

I would not have minded if it had rained all day or even all week. But I'm very thankful for what we did get!

Mom & Me Campout

I can not believe that my boys are now too old for the Cub Scout Mom and Me camp out. One of my very first blog posts were about our fun weekend together. You can click... here ... and read it if your interested. I can not believe how big they have gotten since then. :(

They are too old to go and play all day but are encouraged to volunteer and help make it a fun experience for the little cubs and their moms! Next year Caden will also join the scouts ( he could have joined this year but didn't because of football. Not going to be the case for next year. He will just have to miss that game;) And I may just go along to volunteer my time as well. Not just to necessarily be with my boys but just to help out.

With the boys meeting at 6am Jared was up early... really too early, 4:30am.. I guess he didn't want to be late. You see where he ended up..in my bed. It doesn't matter how old they get, I still love it when I hear, "Mom can I lay with you".

We enjoyed our few minutes sitting out side wating on his ride to pick him up.Thank you Diane. Everything looks so different out side at 5:30 in the morning. It is really kinda peaceful.

Caden woke up at 8 o'clock and he told me," Jared didn't say goodbye." I said, "Baby he left at 5:45. He didn't want to wake you. Did you want him to though?" As he slowly turns away, he nods yes. This was really sweet and so sad. Caden does love his brother, even though he would never admit it to Jared! Ha :)

Jared came home this afternoon stinky filthy and exhausted. He's already showered and in his pjs. Hehehe! But he is enjoying it and had a good time volunteering at Mom & Me!

And a little update on how I'm doing..

Ugh!...Really? I could be doing better, this is with medication.

But I have this little girl to help take care of me..

I was taking a nap and she brought me a healthy snack in bed. Love her!

Western Days

This past Saturday was Western Days and was also Caden's first year to be in the parade as he rode along with his football team!

Love Jeff's face. Why do I know this look so well? A look of "yea that's right I'm a Daddy" Ha!

This was my second time to go to western days since I graduated from High School, over 16 years ago. Wow! How much that little community has grown!!

This was her favorite part of the parade... the candy!

Pre-School

I love that Grace enjoys learning. She loves going to Mothers Day Out but wishes she could go to Kindergarten. :( Every night after tucking her in bed she asks, "Am I going to school tomorrow?" We are enjoying her last year at home together, and with her Daddy's new work schedule he is able to spend more time with her. This is really a blessing, time we can never get back. I am going to miss her so much when she starts school next year.

This week has been full of all sorts of surprises. From Jeff's new work schedule to doctor appointment's, lab work, (twice in one day) to a sonogram and hearing the words a possible hysterectomy. This has not been a fun week for me. But with God I (we) will persevere!!! Next week will in tell yet another doctor appointment and possibly more lab work, and that will be okay, I suppose. I am only blogging this to have this in our family journal. I am so sorry if I have worried anyone this was not my intent at all. The only ones that knew of this were my parents and our neighbors. Our sweet neighbors and I were planning a garage sale and we had to cancel Thursday evening to rush off to the emergency care clinic. The title 198 over 103 was my blood pressure reading on Wednesday at my routine Doctors appointment. Dr. Mauldin and his nurses have been so wonderful and have worked hard to get me in with my regular physician this coming Monday. The sonogram and possible hysterectomy has nothing to do with my blood pressure totally separate complication.

This sweet little boy was worried about me and would push the the button every five minutes on the blood pressure machine until we made him go to bed at 10:30 on Thursday night. This reminds me of the sweet stories I have heard for years about how Jeff would stay up late taking care of his Mother when he was little.

Jared's Birthday Weekend

For his Birthday Dinner, his restaurant of choice was The Texas Road House, of course! ;)

After dinner, we enjoyed these little individual slices of cookie cake. What a neat idea, the perfect little size, yet so very yummy! ;)

We were up early on Saturday morning sending Jared off on his first Boy Scout camp out. We were a little apprehensive, with this being his first camp out without Jeff or myself with him, but we knew he would be okay and have a wonderful time!

And we were right! He had a great time! As soon as Jared got in the car Sunday evening he was dirty from head to toe and talking non-stop about how much fun he had! We knew he and another scout would be preparing the meals during their camp out. He was not thrilled, but, okay with it. He did end up really enjoying it! :) One of his Scout Leaders told me, "Most of the new scouts shy away from cooking and cleaning dishes but he stepped up and did an excellent job!" Our Boy Scout is looking forward to the next camp out in a few weeks.

Catching up from my Lack of Blogging...

Things have been a little crazy lately. I can not believe it's been two weeks since I've been on here. I am so behind on my posts as well as reading everyone else. After my Dad asked me why haven't I posted lately?
I figured I better get on it! Lol!

So, two weeks ago yesterday, Jeff was at work and the kids and I were on our way home from church. We swing by What-a-burger before heading home. We got stopped at a red light where a homeless man was standing and his sign that he was holding read..."Homeless. Every little bit helps." We were the only ones there and we felt the urge to help. As we were gathering food for him, the light turned green and cars were coming up fast so we headed on our way. We felt awful. We drove home not saying anything and we were no longer hungry. Jared was sitting in the front seat forcing down every bite. When we pulled into the drive way I noticed Caden hadn't touched his hamburger. I asked what was wrong. Tearing up, he said, "It's because of that Man." I asked him “do you want to go back and give it to him?" Jared and Caden both said YES! Jared hadn’t eaten any of his fries and he said he could give him those! So off we go! This time we were a few cars back in line and as he walked up to the car, I said my son wanted to give you his hamburger and french fries. He said, "Wow, thank you very much!" The car behind us also gave him something. This was such a wonderful feeling and a neat experience. I haven't helped the homeless in this way before; I never felt safe or the urge to do so. I am so blessed to have two sweet boys' with such a giving heart.

About two hours later I'm talking to my sister on the phone. They were being evacuated from their home because of the forest fire just a half mile away, and 1 1/2 miles from our home. Very scary! This photo is from a few days later of all the smoke. Oh how I wished these were rain clouds...

But was worth watching my niece perform.

After Caden's football game, we spent the afternoon with the Akin's. This is how we kept the kids under control....

Just kidding!!!!! We had to make them get out...I promise!

Caden played an awesome game this past Saturday! He made lots of tackles and two of them were by himself!! This photo was taken after the Bobcats made the tackle. You see who is holding the ball? ;) We are enjoying watching him play. I am getting better, I still do not like watching every play. It's the thrill and the fear of my son playing football.

After the game we went and visited with Nana and Papaw after her very difficult week of enduring shoulder surgery, heart attack and fluid on her lungs. Thank you everyone who has been praying for her!!

With the very little rain we have gotten this year and the water company sending out a letter to it's customers stating, only to water on certain days and only from midnight to 4am., we thought it might be a good idea to get the well up and running. So thankful we finally got some rain last night! Thank you Jesus, for answering our prayers!

Just the two of us on our way to Dallas to visit my Mom in the hospital. Very bitter sweet. We enjoyed our time together visiting in the car, but very sad about why we were going to Dallas. Thank you Nenaw and Papaw for keeping the the kids for us!

Well Caden played his very first football game on Saturday. He was excited and a little nervous all at the same time.

But not near as nervous as I was!

I looked through my fingers attempting to hide my eyes as he played. Torn between the thrill of my son playing football and the fear of my son playing football.

Caden and I had a great time in Dallas last weekend!

Well those are blurs of people, and they are sitting in our searts!! Just kidding.. They are sitting next to our seats! Lol! I was hoping to sit a little closer..If I had known this game was going to be a sell out I would have gotten our tickets earlier. :)

Back to School Prayer

Today was the first day of School! I was so glad to hear that both boys had a good day! Jared was excited to find out that he has Band, P.E. lunch and recess with his cousin! This is the first time in 7 years that they have had a class together. Should be fun only if they behave. I'm sure that they will. ;) Caden was excited to have a few friends from his football team in his class this year. He said, "Mom, Garland said today he's not going to call me Caden, he's going to call me "Red" just like in football." I said, he is! "I don't mind!" I know you don't mind in football, but just remember everyone else doesn't know your name yet. So they may also start calling you "Red." "I know, that's okay, I like it!" I personaly think it's cute..but if he knew I thought that he would probably hate the nick name. ;)

This morning I took our traditional "First Day of School Morning" pictures.

I am not sure what my problem was..I could not take a clear photo to save my life.

They are cute, but everyone of them turned out blurry. :/ Not sure if it was me or my camera.

Next it was Caden's turn to be dropped off. Before walking him in, we took this quick pic. Yay, I got us all in the picture on the first try!

We couldn't leave her out. She wouldn't let us..lol! When we got back to the car she said, "My turn, take a picture with me!" She's a mess. She's afraid she is going to miss out on something. I can't believe on this day next year she will start Kindergarten!:( Wow they grow up so fast..where does the time go??

Our prayer to them every day is that they show Gods love to others at school by helping out any way that they can. That others see Jesus though them.

I don't remember blogging a story that happened to Jared toward the end of the school year last year, so I will journal it today before I forget.
For several days he would come home talking about a boy in his class. He told me, Jr. said a cuss word today and I told him to never say it again. I asked him what did Jr. say? He said, "G.O.D." Oh really? Well what did he say when you asked him not to say the Lords name in vane? "Mom, he didn't know who God was. He has heard other people say that word but didn't know about Jesus." Oh wow!.. Jared, what a awesome time to witness to him! He said "I know, it was a little "weird" him not knowing about HIM already." It's sad isn't it? "Yea." But that's awesome that you were the one to tell him about Jesus Christ. "Yea.. That was cool!"

We pray that you will lead a life that is worthy of the Lord. We pray that you will please him in every way. So we want you to bear fruit in every good thing you do. We want you to grow to know God better. Colossians 1:10

Summer Fun

We have done our best to keep cool this summer! It has been a HOT one for sure. I believe it got up over 110 degrees at one point. We haven't had temperatures like this since 1998! I'm so thankful I got pregnant with Jared in December of that year. Hew..not sure I would have made it through that one being HUGE pregnant. ;)

The boys are getting older and they asked if they could set up the pool this year. We said, SURE go right ahead! Love this one of Jared! Ha!

Jeff and I did end up giving them a hand. But really, they did a pretty good job on their own! The hard part is making sure the pool is level.

Sun Screen is one thing we used plenty of this summer. It has gotten to hot to swim. :( I know that sounds crazy but the pool at one point felt like a hot tub...ugh!

So... Note. To. Self. Never leave a soda can unopened in your vehicle when it's 110 degrees out side. Caden was on the phone with him when it exploed and he started laughing so hard he had to repeat himself several times so that I could understand what happenend. He said, "Dad said he almost peed on himself while driving down the road!!! He said a soda can exploded in his truck and it sounded just like a gun shot!"

This is what I did one day to help keep cool. Yumm..I haven't had one of these in years! Thank you Aimee, for the dipped cone and for a fun day with you guys!

We adventured back to the Civil War.

This was so much fun! When the photographer said "Okay now give me a serious look" the boys took that to extreem. I love it! Speaking of the heat, I can not imagine living back then and having to wear these clothes. Bless their hearts. I thought 10 minutes was bad enough.

And last but not least.The beautiful sunset while driving home from Meet the Teacher tonight. Wow..it was so beautiful.

Birthday Party Pics

Last weekend we surprised the kids with a Birthday party at the Jalapeno Tree! It was nice having the help of the restaurant! It made the party a lot less work for Jeff and I and a whole lot of fun this year!

Jeff walked around the room most of the evening taking pictures of the guests. He took lots of candid shots, which are really kind of neat to look at. I like looking at what other people are doing in that moment.

This year we did something we had never done before. We had just loaded the car and I said, This will be the last year for balloons they are such a hassle. And then it hit me, "Lets let the balloons go, on the count of 3!"
Eveyone thought that was a neat idea!

We just stood there and watched. We talked about how lots of other boys and girls could see them and we wondered where they would eventually land. So I guess I'll be getting balloons again next year, that was really kinda fun! ;)

Well it's official..

We are now the proud parents a football player! Lol! Tonight he was assigned his helmet and shoulder pads. He is so excited and is ready to BRING IT ON! Grrrr! lol! We are looking forward to watching him play! Go Bobcats!! Here's to tomorrow, shopping for his pants and a mouth piece. Gotta make sure my baby boy is well protected! ;)

Gators & Friends

Last weekend we took the kids to see the Gators.

We had fun, even though it was sooo creepy. ;)

Yes, she insisted that she hold the gator all by herself. No fear. What. So. Ever.

The Gator: Aww maann another kid wanting to hold a gator. Almost got dropped again, My back is killin me, and if that guy comes after me with that tape one more time i'm gonna call my agent.

She was okay sitting with the boys after she held the gator first.

Jared was okay holding the gator by himself or with his brother and sister, didn't matter to him either way. Caden, not so much. He was not interested in the gator at all. Jeff and I had to ask him, and told him he could hold the tail, just for a quick picture. Looks like Caden is thinking, "My sister is nuts!"

Caden warned up though. Jared.."Okay Mom, you got the shot." Grace.."Your such a pretty little gator!"

And in the end Caden gave him a little pet! ;)

I Cry Everytime

For the past several weeks, pretty much since Vacation Bible School eight weeks ago Grace has been asking about Jesus more often. It's always in the mornings while I'm brushing her hair. She would always bring it up out of the blue and our conversations would last maybe 2-3 minutes.

These are just some of the things that we said during the past severeal weeks that I want to remember.. "Jesus will live in my heart" (She would always start the conversation this way). Yes, He sure will, if you ask Him to come into your heart! Jesus loves us sooo much and he was never mean or ugly to anyone. Sometimes we don't always tell the truth... you remember yesterday when you got into Mommy's make-up (mascara) and I asked you what was on your face and you said "nothing" Jesus always told the truth and we want to be like that. She would always get real quiet and just listen. I would always ask her, "Do you want to ask Jesus onto your heart?" This was always toward finishing up on her hair..she would never answer, the subject would always somehow get changed and she would go running off to play.

Until Yesterday!!!

"Jesus will live inside my heart!?" Yes He will! "Wow. Inside here!"..(pointing at her chest). Yea, right inside there. Do you want to ask Jesus into your heart? "Yes." Do you want to ask Him right now? "Yes, I want to ask Him to be inside my Heart."

I wish I had written down more aside from just how old the boys were when they asked Jesus to be in their hearts. Jared was 5 years old, tucked in his bed for the night. Caden was 4, we had just taken Jared to school and were driving down Hwy 80 about to exiting onto Loop 281.

All three of them were just precious! I cried everytime and had to hold back my tears during the prayer. I didn't want them to think that I was sad. I could tell them that they were "happy tears" but would they understand? I don't know if it's because they were all so young and saying this prayer in such a sweet little voice, I don't honestly know. But it was a struggle for me everytime.

These are just some random pictures I took of her and her doll..she was thrilled that they had matching outfits! And I was thrilled it only cost me $7.00 at Dillards. ;)

I can not thank you enough for all your prayers, and Bible scriptures, and text, over this past week! That really meant a lot.

It has been a fun week with Bible study, Prayer groups and Birthday Partys. But somehow we have managed to forget to get pictures of this. Sorry I am crazy about getting photos of everything. I'm becoming addicted I think. ;)

Grace went for her 2nd hair cut last weekend..she looks a little unsure of this man cutting her hair...she had a young lady cut it last time.;)

But she warmed up and had a great time.

She loves the salon!

She's very excited, she also had her very first towel up do! Silly girl.

Hearing them talk and loving on her was just precious. All three loved every minute of it.

Our very first (and last) cantaloupe from our garden!!! Wooohooo!! I say last, because out of ALL that we planted we only got this ONE. We let Jared pick it...and as he did he said, I picked the first and last cantaloupe of the season! Funny, you little toot. But true. The sad thing is, it looks really yummy..right? Well, when we cut into it we all agreed it tasted like cucumber. :/ Next year we will plant them much further apart and a lot less cucumber! Man we had tons, enough to effect the fruit. Oh well, you live, you learn.

After a week of prayer and several hours of detailed discussion tonight we have decided for Jeff to take the Plant Superintendent job. We feel that this is what the Lord wants for us and our family. Jeff is excited! He has been ready for years to have the opportunity to make a difference at work. God has been so good to us and has given us more then we deserve. We are so very thankful for his many blessings!

For I know the plans I have for you, "declares the Lord", plans to prosper you and not to harm you plans to give you hope & a future. Jeremiah 29:11

The Right Path

Last week Jeff was offered a promotion at work. We were not expecting this at all. We have been in prayer about this because we want to make the right decision for our family. Our kids are still young, Jared is about to start Band, Caden's playing Football in the fall, and Grace will start Kindergarten in 12 months. Jeff is happy with his position within the company.. Would this job demand or require more of his time? Having a stressed husband and father is not what Jeff and I want for us and our kids. God is so Good! The job is in Longview (for now). We only want God's will for us to show us if this is the job HE wants for Jeff. Our decision will be made at the end of the week.

I will instruct you (says the Lord) and guide you along the best pathway for your life; I will advise you and watch your progress. Psalm 32:8

Celebrating 15 Years!

July 6, 1996

All these years later we are more in love than ever. We have seen each other at our best and at our worst. We've laughed together and cried together. The Lord has truly blessed me. I couldn't have asked for a more loving husband, best friend, and father for my children.

So very thankful to Nana and Papaw for letting the kids spend a few days with you last week, so that Jeff and I were able to celebrate our Anniversary.

We wanted to visit or go do something that we hadn't never done before. We had heard from family and friends that Los Pinos was a wonderful place to go. With the kids gone there couldn't have been a more perfect opportunity than now.

We enjoyed a delicious candlelite dinner and a glass of wine, while a live band played in the background.

Jeff and I are making some tough decisions this week. We would appreciate any and all prayers for us!

Grace was very tired from the busy weekend, so on Monday we just went to the fireworks show in town this year.

The boys really enjoyed it. Grace said it was beautiful but that it was too loud. So she enjoyed watching it from the front seat of the car.

On Tuesday morning we headed to Dallas for a few days for a mini vacation with the kids. This was our view from our hotel room. Cool :)

4th of July Weekend

Saturday we spent the day with my side of the family at the lake. This is always a lot of fun!

This one made me laugh. Hilarious!! This is my brother and his son Grayson. This was also Gray's first time out on the innertube. TJ was making fun, along with trying to get Grayson to laugh, he hated it, he cryed and screamed the whole time. Tennille (my sis in law) said jokin, well this is going to require therapy for sure.;)

Yes that is wind and rain. This was a very intense little storm, it came and went within 10 minutes.

Sunday we spent the day with Jeff's side of the family! The cousins have taken over the golf cart with a new version of the game cops and robbers. Look at my sweet nephews...pointing the water guns so cute and peaceful at me. And then take a look at the intense look on my boy's faces. Aiming SO intensely at me. I feel the love. My goodness. Lol!

How To Talk To Little Girls

I read this on Facebook. This is so good and very well written! I wanted to put it on my blog to help me remember.

I went to a dinner party at a friend's home last weekend, and met her five-year-old daughter for the first time.

Little Maya was all curly brown hair, doe-like dark eyes, and adorable in her shiny pink nightgown. I wanted to squeal, "Maya, you're so cute! Look at you! Turn around and model that pretty ruffled gown, you gorgeous thing!"

But I didn't. I squelched myself. As I always bite my tongue when I meet little girls, restraining myself from my first impulse, which is to tell them how darn cute/ pretty/ beautiful/ well-dressed/ well-manicured/ well-coiffed they are. What's wrong with that? It's our culture's standard talking-to-little-girls icebreaker, isn't it? And why not give them a sincere compliment to boost their self-esteem? Because they are so darling I just want to burst when I meet them, honestly.

Hold that thought for just a moment.

This week ABC news reported that nearly half of all three- to six-year-old girls worry about being fat. In my book, Think: Straight Talk for Women to Stay Smart in a Dumbed-Down World, I reveal that fifteen to eighteen percent of girls under twelve now wear mascara, eyeliner and lipstick regularly; eating disorders are up and self-esteem is down; and twenty-five percent of young American women would rather win America's Next Top Model than the Nobel Peace Prize. Even bright, successful college women say they'd rather be hot than smart. A Miami mom just died from cosmetic surgery, leaving behind two teenagers. This keeps happening, and it breaks my heart.

Teaching girls that their appearance is the first thing you notice tells them that looks are more important than anything. It sets them up for dieting at age 5 and foundation at age 11 and boob jobs at 17 and Botox at 23. As our cultural imperative for girls to be hot 24/7 has become the new normal, American women have become increasingly unhappy. What's missing? A life of meaning, a life of ideas and reading books and being valued for our thoughts and accomplishments.

That's why I force myself to talk to little girls as follows.

"Maya," I said, crouching down at her level, looking into her eyes, "very nice to meet you.""Nice to meet you too," she said, in that trained, polite, talking-to-adults good girl voice.

"Hey, what are you reading?" I asked, a twinkle in my eyes. I love books. I'm nuts for them. I let that show.

Her eyes got bigger, and the practiced, polite facial expression gave way to genuine excitement over this topic. She paused, though, a little shy of me, a stranger.

"I LOVE books," I said. "Do you?"

Most kids do.

"YES," she said. "And I can read them all by myself now!"

"Wow, amazing!" I said. And it is, for a five-year-old. You go on with your bad self, Maya.

"What's your favorite book?" I asked.

"I'll go get it! Can I read it to you?"

Purplicious was Maya's pick and a new one to me, as Maya snuggled next to me on the sofa and proudly read aloud every word, about our heroine who loves pink but is tormented by a group of girls at school who only wear black. Alas, it was about girls and what they wore, and how their wardrobe choices defined their identities. But after Maya closed the final page, I steered the conversation to the deeper issues in the book: mean girls and peer pressure and not going along with the group. I told her my favorite color in the world is green, because I love nature, and she was down with that.

Not once did we discuss clothes or hair or bodies or who was pretty. It's surprising how hard it is to stay away from those topics with little girls, but I'm stubborn.

I told her that I'd just written a book, and that I hoped she'd write one too one day. She was fairly psyched about that idea. We were both sad when Maya had to go to bed, but I told her next time to choose another book and we'd read it and talk about it. Oops. That got her too amped up to sleep, and she came down from her bedroom a few times, all jazzed up.

So, one tiny bit of opposition to a culture that sends all the wrong messages to our girls. One tiny nudge towards valuing female brains. One brief moment of intentional role modeling. Will my few minutes with Maya change our multibillion dollar beauty industry, reality shows that demean women, our celebrity-manic culture? No. But I did change Maya's perspective for at least that evening.

Try this the next time you meet a little girl. She may be surprised and unsure at first, because few ask her about her mind, but be patient and stick with it. Ask her what she's reading. What does she like and dislike, and why? There are no wrong answers. You're just generating an intelligent conversation that respects her brain. For older girls, ask her about current events issues: pollution, wars, school budgets slashed. What bothers her out there in the world? How would she fix it if she had a magic wand? You may get some intriguing answers. Tell her about your ideas and accomplishments and your favorite books. Model for her what a thinking woman says and does.

Looks like they're having fun!

Just a minor road block less than a mile from camp on Wednesday morning.

Immediately I had two bummed out children in the back seat.

One child telling me we could run the two miles to the drop off and pick ups and the other agreeing. But what they didn't know is unless they could run the two miles in less than 6 minutes, they would be late. So what's a momma to do??...I think we can squeeze through. See the ditch and the small amount of pavement to the far left..? YES, Mom I think we can fit! Awww what's another 100 scratches on my car anyways? But it's sooo worth it Mom! Okay...here goes. As Abi is buckling back up she says to Caden... You may want to buckle up!! So cute! This made me a little nervous and really stopped and think about what I was about to do....I have two children in the car with me and one of them not mine! And, am I buckled up?! Just to let you know we made it through just fine no kids were late and no extra scratches on my car!

Just one of the many trips to Tyler. Nana and Papaw must have worn her out. She took a nap that afternoon and slept the whole way to Tyler!

Summer Jobs

A few weeks ago good friends of ours The Boozier's gave us a great idea. To have the boys make up there own chore list for the summer. The boys' loved this idea!! They did a good job working together to come up with alternating chores. ex: Caden loads dishwasher...Jared unloads.

Jeff and I also came up with odd jobs around the house for them to work on throught the summer.

We had in mind with summer camp coming up, and them working on it an hour or so every few days, that this would take them a week and a half to two weeks to finish.

It took them three days! They loved working on this, I had to make them come inside several times to cool off! I'm not sure if this was a "chore" or not they had too much fun. Ha! Awsome job boys!!

This week the boys are at summer camp! Caden is there from 9-5 everyday, and on Father's Day we dropped off Jared and haven't talked to him since :( I have seen 2 glimpes of him in the distance while dropping off or picking up Caden. I know he's okay and hopefully having fun.

Splish Splash

With the boys leaving for camp next week, Jeff took them into town lastnight to pick up some of the last few items. So while the boys were gone...

The girls got to play!! ;)

We had the pool all to ourselves! This was a first for us and we had such a good time!

She loves giving kisses when she's excited, but oh my goodness this hurts, it's almost like a hug and kiss all in one! Could she push her little lips a little harder into my lips and nose? ;) As soon as Jeff saw this picture he said, ouch I know what she is doing there.

Lets try that again, but this time with just a hug! :)

We did a lot of singing and balerina dancing...very different from swimming with the boys when they were this little. Or even now. No room to pretend to syncronize swim, with all the cannon balls, world pools, torpedo swimming going on. ; )

June 8th

Will always be a special day to Jeff and I. Our first date in 95. June 8th 1999 was the day we found out our first child would be a precious baby boy.

And today. June 8th 2011 the day he officially measures (mind you this is a weekly thing around here) taller than his Mother! Jared was thrilled! A little over a week ago I was still taller. Today, that has reversed. He is a quarter inch taller than me:( Don't get me wrong, I want my boys to be taller than me, I'm only 5' 1" I am a little sad though. My boy is growing up too fast, dadd gummet. He knows that know matter how tall he gets I am still the boss! ;)

Today was also a special day for Grace. This week is VBS at our church and with her almost being 4 years old she is considered preschool/preK and is old enough to attend open and closing assembly. This is when they sing and shout praising God! I'm just across the hall in the craft room getting the last minute details set up for the children when Miss Kim (one of the children's directors at the church) walks in.. "Stacey, you have to come see this, Grace is on stage singing with the praise and worship team!" My first thought, honestly was.. "Oh Crap! What is she doing??? In front of all those people I am going to have to drag her kicking and screaming off stage" But, what I actually said out loud, "Was it intentional or by accident?" "No, they invited her on stage..she is adorable!!! Come here and watch her!!" I thought Debbie (a lady from church) was going to bust a gut, laughing at what I had said. "Stacey, you just won Best Quote Of The Month!..Hillarius!!!" Debbie, I honestly never know what that girl will do.

I am thrilled that she was asked to join in on the praise an worship team! I wish I would have had my good camera but I'm sure this is just the first of many performances we will see from this girl. She is such a mess. But, she was adorable!

When she noticed me, she froze on stage with a look of "Uh Oh... am I in trouble?" She had such a good time this week that she was happy to skip MDO. (Her words)..."Can I go to church and sing and dance for Jesus!?!"

This video was the last day and just before she went missing for 15 minutes. Very scary, lots of people were looking for her. It was the longest 15 minutes of my life. When I heard that someone had found her Ms Cindy and Ms Ginny had me to sit down before I fainted. They said I went "white." This girl sent me over the top. Too hot and way too stressful! Aimee, thank you for thinking of the new building. I never even thought that someone would have let her in the building. Thank you so much to everyone who helped look for her!
