A Life Lesson

Caden Luke. Is all I can say. Your Daddy and I love you very much. You are and will always be my shy  and sweet little redheaded boy. Your willingness and excitment to help around the house is such a blessing. I love the age that you are. You are the sweetest 8 year old little boy. Your truly a gift from God and it's hard to believe that He loves you more than your Daddy and I love you. But we are so thankful that He does.

May 24th you were climbing from the dogs pen and  fell from the chain link fencing. Lately, you've been keeping your guardian angel busy. And your parents worried sick. We couldn't be more thankful that the Lord protected you and that you are going to be okay. In the ER after pain meds. and numbing drops your Daddy took this picture hoping to make you smile.

The fence scraped across the cornea (corneal abrasion) causing temporary visual loss. The Doctor told us the Lord was definately watching over you. You told me at the Hospital that after you had fallen you thought you had lost your eye. This broke our hearts.

Here we are at the Opthamologists the next morning. Very thankful they got us in so quickly but I hate the fact he was an emergency patient. Caden was all smiles after, in a darkened room, Dr.Ward applied several drops, one to numb and the other to dilate his eye. To give an example of how he was feeling.. Before the eye drops he was not interested in having lunch with friends at Chick-fil-a. After the eye drops that became an option again. Yay! His vision before the accident was  20/20 and after was 20/50. The Doctor was hopeful that his vision would return back to normal after a few days.

We went back on Tuesday and his eye is still a little swollen but thankfully his vision has returned. Praise the Lord!!!

Since then he has been very aware of the little kids next door and has not hesitated to get on to them if he sees them climbing on the fence reguardless of whether their Mimi is out there or not.

Thank you again for all your prayers! And thank you to the Akin family for keeping an eye on Jared and Grace for us!!

We're depending on God; he's everything we need. What's more, our hearts brim with joy since we've taken for our own his holy name. Love us, God, with all you've got— that's what we're depending on. Psalm 33:21
