Memorial Day Weekend

We enjoyed our Sunday evening with good friends...

yummy food, and going for a swim!

Thank you, Smith Family for inviting us to your home...

and for the wonderful fellowship!

Last June we had the honor of witnessing the return of a "Fallen Solider" with an escort of hundreds of Freedom Riders. This was a perfect opportunity to talk to our boys about the true cost of freedom. They had lots of questions and afterwards they were pretty much quiet the rest of our drive to Six Flags. We hung our American Flag on our tree today to honor the men and women who fought for our country and freedom. Thank you!

Hope you all enjoyed your Memorial Holiday weekend!

Our Garden...

Has grown so much since my last update on it. The picture above is just some of our Squash and Cucumbers. This is our first year to plant and we are very pleased that we have not yet killed our fruits & veggies. Actually...it has grown very large and we have had to replant some of the tomatoes... because we planted them too close together. (Thanks to Grace's help with the seeds on planting day) ;)

I took this picture on Friday of our very first Squash...almost ready. And...by today it was ready to pick. Yay! We are a sad sight to see, taking pictures of our vegetables...and hearing us say..."oh how cute - it's so pretty." Happy Gardening!

Final Game of The Season

Caden hitting, scoring and tagging players out has been the way he has played these past several games. Last night Caden had a runner coming to third, he had the ball and was racing him to the base...neither child slowing down...both boys hit and fell to the ground. Caden on top still holding the ball in glove! The Ump calls...OUT! The runner walks away limping, Caden was okay, just a little shaken up. Other parents telling us..."he needs to play football!" I guess so...he did this one time last year in T-ball. His Nenaw asking me..."did you get a picture?!" Of course not...because that one would have been a good one! Caden has really enjoyed playing ball and he is sad that the season has come to an end. We love watching him play, but we will not miss the 3 game a week schedule. Until next year... ;)
Day after day I was there, with my joyful applause... Proverbs 8:31

What a Mess...

my little girl got herself into last weekend. When Papaw came over to help Jeff with the roofing project... The kids were running around playing...or watching Daddy and Papaw working. Grace was having a blast playing on Papaw's tractor trailer. We all thought nothing of it. Until...

(She's just a little ticklish) ;)

It was time to wash up for nap. As I'm washing her (legs and arms!) I notice that she's not coming clean. I said... "Girl what in the world did you get into?!" This was not dirt I was seeing on my daughter...this looks like tar!...that soap, water and alcohol will not touch. I then tell one of the boys (can't remember which) to go get your daddy! I need his help getting this stuff off of her. About a minute later the boys walk in with this tub of grease looking stuff..saying Papaw said to use this...this will get it off! Papaw was right, this greasy "Gojo" stuff was a lifesaver!

Happy Birthday Papaw!

Today is Papaw Cornett's birthday, so after church we wanted to wish him a Happy Birthday!

We had a good visit, and the kids of course wanted to go for a ride on the four wheelers!

Roofing Day

Jeff was excited to finally start building his shop.

Blessed that is his dad was able to help...

and that his dad also owns a tractor!

Steady now don't dump the load... hehe! :)

They were able to get all the trusses up and welded. Hoping by next weekend the roofing will be completed.

Award Ceremony

Friday night Jared received an Academic Award for his achievements during the school year. Walking up to the school I could tell he was a little nervous. I said to him, Well buddy are you ready? Yeah. My stomach has butterflies though. Yeah.. and that's okay..no worries you will do fine.

He did great walking across the stage, in front of so many people.

His Grandparent's were there to support and celebrate with him on this evening.

Along side him was his cousin Caleb!

Boys- We are all very proud of you both, for earning this very special award.
They did not conquer by their own strength and skill, but by your mighty power and because you smiled upon them and favored then. Psalm 44:3

A Field Day

Today was my first Track & Field Day I had no other child in tow. (Caden with Jared K-1st & Grace past 2yrs) This felt a little odd at first.. like I needed to be doing something, but don't worry that didn't last long ;) We had lots of fun, and after enjoyed a yummy lunch together at Taco Bueno!

He competed in the 100 Yard Dash,(4th place) and in Standing Long Jump (1st place).

Cousins enjoying Track & Field Day!..

and boys enjoying it a little too much ;)
He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy. Job 8:21

Toothache

Yes...Caden lost another tooth. He jumped in the car after school on Wednesday and said "Mom I have a surprise for you." Really. What is it!? Just LOOK :)) WOW! It was just a little loose on Sunday when his Nenaw asked him if he had lost anymore, we were pleased to say "no not yet!" We were hoping this one would hang on a little longer to give some of the others time to come in. Tonight he didn't eat all of his dinner, I asked him if he was feeling okay, he said "yea..my teeth are just hurting a little." (trying to keep from chewing on his gums). Mashed Potatoes & Milkshakes maybe IT for a while.

Grace's Thoughts

There are times I can read my children like a book ;) and tonight happen to be one of those times.
Mommy!..Your really going to let Jared comb my hair and put it up in a ponytail?!

Okay that's enough now...Stop!

Fine then!...

Just hurry please!!

Mom please make him stop

Yay!..all done! See..it wasn't that bad.

I told Grace to bring me her "ponytail" so I could fix her hair and to get it out of her eyes. Jared was sitting beside her and said, I can do it! Are you sure?! Yea. I have seen you and daddy do it several times. Okay, go head. Well he did it and he did a great job.. Better yet, they both survived;)

I waited patiently for the LORD to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry. Psalm 40:1

My Uncle's Tractor

My Uncle Scott stopped by this weekend with his tractor,
he's just so cool..he has tractors
and tools that are just so much fun for me to play on!

...and when he sees you he will be glad in his heart.

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day Mom! Thank you so much for being the Godly woman and mother that you are... For you and Dad raising your kids to know and love the LORD. I Love you Mom!

This Mother's Day was very special to me in so many ways.. Every year the kids climb in bed to snuggle and to wish me a happy mother's day...they are sooo sweet!..This is always my favorite part of the day, and a wonderful way to start the day. After church and great fellowship with friends we had a wonderful lunch with Jeff's parents at The Jalapen'o Tree.
After getting home we slipped into comfy clothes, enjoyed a Sunday afternoon nap and hung out in the back yard enjoying the cool Sunday breeze.

A few weeks ago I asked my hubby if he would build me a small table to go with our new swing.

He built and gave it to me today for Mother's Day. Thank you honey, I know right now your really busy with work, you did this special just for me. I love you, and you did a wonderful job!

Tonight just before Grace went to bed, she walked up to me and gave me a big ((hug)) and said... "Happy Mother's Day." Wow! What a wonderful surprise, and a great way to end the day. Jeff asked her if she would say it again so that he could record it. I have tried to upload it (voice message) several times and blogger won't let it upload:(
I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day!!

Track Day

We spent our morning at the football field, for Jared's Track and Field Day.

Every year the school puts together a "track day" filled with sporting events...

...and the kiddos really have a lot of fun!

Plus... they get to leave school early too!! Yay! :)

Strawberry Anyone?

Why sure...

don't mind if I do...

take a few.

Grace and I had a great time at the strawberry orchard today. We enjoyed picking and eating a few too. ;) These strawberries are so delicious!!

We had two baskets to fill, one for us and one for Nana & Papaw. Grace was a big help to me, she carried her basket and was very careful not to drop or spill the berries. Thanks Stephanie for telling us about Mc Peak Orchards.

An Early Mother's Day Gift

We had a wonderful time at Nana and Papaw's house yesterday. I gave mom her mother's day gift, and we got several new trees (3 Oak and 1 Mulberry) to plant in our yard today. I love trees, and I'm so thankful that they were free. Thank you so much Mom & Dad!
Yesterday, I also got to see Caden ride the motorcycle for the first time. Over the past two years we have all worked with him, trying to get him to ride without falling off. Well, this past spring break the boys had a work day helping Papaw out around the land. After all the work was done of course ;) he asked if he could give the motorcycle another try. Well this time, he got on and took off!!! He was so excited to tell his daddy and I all about it when he got home.

One very excited little man.

Way to go Caden, you did it! Now just be careful!!!

He is like a tree planted by flowing streams; it yields its fruit at the proper time, and its leaves never fall off. He succeeds in everything he attempts. Psalm 1:3
