A White Christmas

Merry....
Even though we have been snuggling with a sick little girl all day we feel so blessed!
I have lived in East Texas for 37 years and this is the first Christmas I can remeber it snowing on Christmas day!
I am so glad the kids enjoyed it!
I'm sure this could be a once in a lifetime thing for us East Texans!
.....snowball fights is an awesome Christmas present!
I was hoping in between giving her Tylenol and Motrin she would feel up to going out just for a few minutes (mainly for a quick pic). I know, I'm aweful. I didn't want her to miss out on seeing the snow.
It's such a beautiful Christmas night! Thank you Jesus for a white Christmas!

Parties & Programs

I have been trying to post about the boys Christmas concerts for over a week now. Life has a way of getting in the way but that is okay. I knew I would get around to posting it sooner or later. :)
\
Caden was sooo excited, he had been practicing for weeks and it was finally show time!:)
I was really surprised. He is our "athlectic child', never in a million years would I have thought....
He has always hated being on stage performing in front of an audience. But he actually wants to try band next year...and yep, you guessed it, a trumpet.
The 7th graders did such a wonderful job! I am so amazed at the music that they are playing. Wow.
Grace and Papaw enjoying the show.
And the two of them with my parents after the show. I am diggin' Caden's shades! Are'nt you? ;)

Today was our last day of school, until next year!
We were excited to celebrate Christmas with our little girl at school today!
Now that the boys are getting older, it makes these moments so much sweeter! They grow up so fast. I am so thankful we get to experience these precious years again!
Thank God for this gift too wonderful for words! 2 Corinthians 9:15

His First Shave

Was on 12-11-12
Yes, my birthday. My sweet boy is growing up. Happy Birthday to me.
I don't know why this is such a big deal to me.
But it is and I am so thankful for every milestone in our children's lives.
His Dad giving him a helping hand.
I still can not believe he is shaving.

After kissing my kids and giving them a tight hug...I sent them off to school this morning with a heavy heart! My prayer is that God keeps all of our children and staff safe and that He will give me peace that only comes from him! Please pray for the safety of all the children and teachers! Praying God’s peace, comfort, and healing in Connecticut. You will be forever in our hearts.

First Photo Session

I was excited when our sweet friends asked me to take their family pictures this year. I do like to take pictures, but I was a bit nervous.. I've only done it for fun and for family so far. And, I am no professional. I don't even have access to a picture program. I did use Picasa for a few borders and one black and white photo, so with that said I am VERY pleased that the pictures turned out ok.

 Sweet Family

Sweet sisters

These are just a few of my favorite. I could honestly post about eight more pictures that I love but I didn't want to post them all just in case Charity would like to post some or send Christmas cards!

This one is too cute!  I'm not sure what was said, but something was funny! Family at its best. I love it!

Thank you Boozier Family for my first family photo shoot! I had so much fun. Hope you like your photos just as much as I do!

Oh What Fun...

The older I get the years seem to get shorter and shorter. I can not believe it is Christmas time again.
This was the first year we brought out the Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving. We have always decorated the day after Thanksgiving but this year Jeff took the week off and with our crazy busy schedule Wed-Sunday we decided that the Tuesday before would be the perfect day to do it;)
With the kids getting older, we let them do 95% of the decorating. Jeff and I helped them when needed but we just enjoyed watching them figure things out on their own and decorate the tree how ever they wanted.
Grace was a huge help this year. She helped us check all of the Christmas lights that go on the house.
She went out to her Daddy's shop to bring back the extension cord. I could tell that she felt like a big kid... like she was really helping, like she has always seen her brothers do and had always wished she could do.

Yep, she even managed to talk us in to letting her on the roof for the first time. She was excited to watch her brothers hang the lights from a different view this year.  She did great! She sat with me as Jeff supervised the boys hanging the lights.
Just another great reason I love my boys.... They come in handy and did a great job hanging the Christmas lights! So thankful for their help!!
Jeff took a pic of us girls waiting on the parade to start. As I was looking at this picture I noticed it looks like Grace is wearing makeup. I guess it was the street lights or something. Oh well, I guess we just got a glimpse of what she will look like in 10 years!
Lights and sirens to get this parade started!..it was a bit loud.;)
I forgot to put my memory card back in the camera. I was a bit bummed, but glad I was able the catch Bryan, Jared and Caleb marching by with my iPhone.

Grace had fun running for candy. Here she was waiving at Santa and asking him if he had any candy. This was interesting because over the last few years we haven't discussed Santa Clause trying to per sway her to or not to believe. All the presents have been from Jeff and I or her brothers. I do remember last year someone asking her if Santa came to see her and she didn't really know what to say. I said, "she got lots of toys and presents from us this year!"

This year will be a little different with her in school. She will be around lots of talk about Santa and if I know my child at all, she will tell her friends "Santa isn't real" and we do not want that to happen. So we will just keep doing what we've been doing the last two years and we will see how it goes.

If you are curious about why we are taking a different approach with her then we did with the boys you can read my post from 3 years ago What Do You Believe  or Growing Pains

ER

Over the past four weeks we have been in and out of the Dr's office three times over the same illness and I can not tell you how frustrating it has been. Grace has been fighting a staph infection and according to Taylor medical Jared also had it. After Jared finished his antibiotics he was not better, he was actually a little worse. After we had Thanksgiving with family we decided to make the decision to take him to the ER. These issues had gone on long enough and we weren't sure if he would be allowed back to school on Monday.
His first ER visit and as you can see he was thrilled to be there. He was even more thrilled to find out it was not a staph infection but that he had a small cyst that needed to be removed. The cyst it is being analyzed but the doctors do not feel it's anything to be worried about.
Since we were there we might as well have her looked at since we were still fighting her infection for six weeks. Yes, something that was supposed to be gone in one week we are still fighting it six weeks later.
Can you say pathetic? She was milking it for all it was worth.

The doctor said her leg was healing fine and the infection was gone! Praise Jesus! This was music to my ears! I don't know if you have ever dealt with a staph infection but it is very painful, and VERY disgusting draining it every night. Yuck.

So, I am happy to report that the Cornett family is going to survive and is finally on the mend. :)

Thankful Thanksgiving

I am so thankful for holidays and spending time with family and friends.
I love this photo of Jared and his Papaw
All of the Cornett cousins except for Josh, Caden and Jacob, they were playing basketball at the time and I missed getting a picture of them.
Rachel and Grace:)
Grace and her Aunt Sherry working hard in the kitchen.
A late night backyard football game with the cousins...
and again on Saturday morning with first and second cousins!
I love this one of my family. My Dad saying the prayer before our Thanksgiving meal. We always hold hands and circle up but there is too many of us to get everyone in the photo.

Love my Mom and sister

and love this sweet pic of my brother and his son Gunner! He was telling his Daddy he wanted chicken nuggets from Mc Donald's. This is hilarious because my bro is an owner of a Chick-fil-a Haha! I asked Gunner if he wanted Chick-fil-a nuggets and he said "No, Mc Donald's." He really does love his daddy's nuggets but he was in the mood for Mc Nuggets yesterday. ;)

I am thankful Jeff has had an opportunity to go hunting over the past few weeks with great friends. Trinity tends to shift the work load into overdrive at the end of the year and he has not been able to get the time off to go hunting in 16 years. He shot at three Deer on his first hunting trip and sadly he missed all three. But his buddy Bill got one and was gracious to share the meat with us. Jeff went again on Friday with his good friend Eric and was able to get himself a Doe! Yay! I was so happy for him!
Wow, just look at that table full of meat! What a blessing! The boys had fun helping drain and prepare the meat. Thank you Akins for the freezer vacuum bags!! Some of this meat will be heading your way!
